Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Announces the Appointment of New President
Tokyo, Japan -- Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) today announced that the board of directors passed a resolution at its meeting held on June 25, 2008 to appoint Mr. Taro Iwamoto as the new President and Representative Director of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
Mr. Iwamoto succeeds Mr. Tatsuo Higuchi, who has held the office of President and Representative Director since June, 2000. During his 8-year tenure, Mr. Higuchi led Otsuka Pharmaceutical’s overseas expansion and strengthened the company’s global operations, reinforcing Otsuka Pharmaceutical’s position as the core company of the Otsuka Pharmaceutical Group. As Otsuka Pharmaceutical’s president and representative director, Mr. Iwamoto, who combines strong leadership with expertise both in international business development and in global R&D, will steer Otsuka Pharmaceutical towards further global expansion of both our pharmaceutical and consumer products businesses in line with our objective to become a global value-creating company.
